Going on a little over 2 years now, Infinity Ward\'s Call of Duty 4 is still alive and kicking. News of NERV3 being announced has brought alot of the community back. The third installment of NERV located in Allentown, Pennsylvania, has 10 teams prepaid and spots saved. Along with those 10 teams are around another 10 or so teams interested and partial paid to go. This time around the NERV staff has given the community the chance to run the lan this time around. Such admins included will be Andy \"theimpaler\" Coons, Kyle \"hackett\" Feeley, Logan \"badfish\" Newell, and Kevin \"KevinD\" Delaney. Efrag-tv will also be there to shout cast while the lan is being played. NERV3 will be taking place between February 19th through the 21st. Promod 2.06NA will be the mod of choice with mr12 being used in play. Map rotation consists of Crash, Backlot, City Streets, Crossfire, Vacant, Strike. Dependant on the turnout for this lan, it will either be a double elimination or group play lan.
I had the pleasure of sitting down with one of the NERV3 admin\'s and player attending the lan, Logan \"badfish\"Newell.
ME - Thank you for sitting down with me Logan. Can you let everyone know some things about you and what you do for the cod4 community.
LOGAN - I\'ve actually been playing COD since the first of the series, although I was never really a presence in the original or its sequel. I\'ve lead several CEVO-P teams, including RiVE and MoB, as well as played on some high-profile teams like Phoenix and Frag`D (now vVv). Right now I\'m on a team and gearing up for my third, and in all likelyhood last, NERV LAN.
ME - Sounds good. You happen to be one of the admins helping run NERV this time around. Can you explain what will be different this time and what some of the plans are for NERV3.
LOGAN - In all honesty, my expectations for NERV3 are such: if NERV3 is exactly like NERV2 and NERV1, we\'ll have done a good job. It\'s no secret that NERV3 will be different from the others because it\'s community-run, with a lot less involvement from the center, but I think we\'ll all find it to be a change for the better. The turnout is looking to fit comfortably into two days, so I expect to have another hilarious and exhausting weekend in Allentown.
ME - Looks like it is going to be a good lan. As of right now with the teams saying they are going, who do you think will be the teams to watch for.
LOGAN - I hate this part of the interview, because it always looks like cock-stroking, but I\'d have to cast my vote for vVv and the team formerly known as MoBdeep. I\'m hoping we turn some heads, of course, and as usual I\'m counting on the CEVO-P pugs and underrated teams to win in some upsets. If I were a betting man, however, I\'d give the nod to vVv.
ME - Don\'t worry about the cock-stroking, we all still love you. One last question. What advice would you give to first time lanners ( like myself ) about playing on lan.
LOGAN - Lanning is an acquired taste; one I\'m still getting used to myself after 8 of them. You can expect everything to be different. Your sensitivity will never be right, you\'ll never get used to people staring over your shoulder, you won\'t be able to hear anything, and you will realize, for the first time probably, how used to your own chair you are. This, however, is not the important part to soak in at your first LAN. Enjoy the people; enjoy the parties; enjoy having a blast in an otherwise shitty Pennsylvania city. Don\'t drink and drive.
ME - Alright, well thank you for sitting down with me Logan and good luck in NERV3 and your gaming future :)
LOGAN - See you there =]
